Lee Jay started his radio training in 1968 as an office boy at 2GB Macquarie in Sydney.
As well as working a full shift he also attended the Charles McLachlan School of announcing where he obtained a position as a radio announcer at 2LT Lithgow at 17 years of age.
He went back to Sydney and worked at 2KY, 2Ch and 2UW on the production side and was also an on air announcer doing midnight to Dawn shifts.
Having had enough of Sydney he went to work at Orange Radio station 2GZ, when one day he took a phone call which was offering him double the money which he was getting to commence a shift on 7EX in Launceston.
From there he travelled across Bass Strait to Melbourne’s number one radio station 3XY.
The list of radio stations he has worked at includes: – 4TO, 2GO,2NX, 2KO,2BE and Coast FM.
Fifty years after originally starting off his career in radio, in his own words, he says that he is extremely contented at Lake Macquarie FM 97 .3.
